Genetic Algorithm
Interesting application that models genetics using 2-wheel driving as the “dominant” trait. (Not sure I understand the colors completely.)

Ever had an idea for a computer program? Try Shoes.
Shoes is a platform for writing Ruby code so that it spits out little apps you can use and share. It’s a great way to learn to program and very easy to get started.
The Competition to End All Competitions
Paris and I are competing in The Rails Rumble this weekend — a programming competition that involves building a web application from start to finished in 48 hours. We will be fueled by Jolt Cola and shitty pizza and we aim to sleep (and bathe) as little as humanly possible. Why? What possible reward could be worth losing an entire weekend cooped up in front of a computer?
Processing
Processing is an open source programming language and environment that lets you play with visuals. Has anyone heard of it or messed with it at all? I saw this amazing Radiohead video done with it and went and checked out the processing website. Seems very cool and something I’d like to try playing around with.
Internet Explorer 8, Firefox, and Web Standards
This is the sort of article I’d read, pass on to a few web developer buddies, and let that be that. I usually don’t post these things here because it’d be like a lawyer posting an interesting article on the tax code (boring). But Microsoft has recently made a very controversial decision about their upcoming browser, one which many of you will end up using (by choice, laziness, or zealous corporate IT), that may break a large majority of the pages you open with it. Joel on Software explains it quite thoroughly and manages to make the subject seem pretty entertaining and exciting while he’s at it.
New Job
I’m sitting at my desk in my office on day 2 of work at GameServers.com. I share the office, but it’s an office anyway!
The digs are cool. I have a corner desk and a dry erase board. The machine is a brand new Dell. I took it out of its gigantic box myself. Here are the specs:
Social Experiment
A co-worker of mine ran a little social experiment amongst some Web site code. Check out this site and scroll down to see the photo under Statistics.
Basically, my buddy was given image-selection freedom. He put it up about 2 weeks ago and just this morning received feedback about it. Guess what happened.
