The phils won the world series and had their parade, now it’s time for free agency. Who do you think they should retain, release and go after?

It worked for John.
So, I sat and watched the game last night as a lone Philly fan in a bar full of cantankerous old Bostonian Townies. I SO regret not being in Philly for the win.
Convince me that I should hop in my car and drive home from Boston to be there for the parade.
PLEASE!
Game 5 of the World Series will be finished tonight! All I want for my birthday today is a World Series championship, is that too much to ask?
Start the parade!!!! WHOOOOOO, PHILLIES!!!!!

Cause I’m told I should be in the city when the Phillies win the world series. And that may very well happen tonight, what with Hamels pitching and the big bats waking up. It all sounds very exciting. But I’m also not particularly fond of large, stupid, drunken crowds. The whole human-zoo factor makes my skin crawl. But then again, the electricity and excitement of a large mass of people all pumped for the same reason can be unparalleled. But then AGAIN, I have a lot of freelance work to get done and the three hours before the game at home would help. But then AGAINNNNN, will I regret having missed such an event to work?
Ugh.
Decisions. Help me.
So where’s everyone watching it? Should we be prepared to storm the streets of Philly if they win? Are people calling out of work the next day for the parade?
I’m probably going to try to get tickets to games 1 and 2 of the World Series and fly down to Tampa to root on the Phillies in person, the first time in an opponent’s stadium. It’ll probably work out to be cheaper to do all of that and see 2 games than it is to go to one game here in decent seats. Just didn’t know if there is anything cool down there to occupy my time in between. I think the stadium is technically in St. Petersburg, so the whole surrounding area.
I think he is quickly becoming my favorite Phillies’ player. Hitting when it matters, racking up the RBIs, just watching him bounce all over the place. And tonight, calling out Kuroda and actually going after Manny. Or doing the whole ‘Hold me back guys, hold me back’.
According to ESPN.com the Phils traded for Joe Blanton (5-12 4.96 ERA)
Does this fix the starting rotation? Predictions for any other trades?
It’s not booked yet but I’m planning on taking about 5 days this summer to gallivant around Southern California.
Those that know me well know that I love baseball, and especially baseball stadiums. The stars (and schedules) have aligned, and the Phillies will be in Los Angeles and San Diego, and the Angels will also be home. I plan on seeing games in all three parks.
Sounds awesome, except, I’ll be by myself.
It seems like a great opportunity to do things that nobody else would want to do (i.e. get up at sunrise and ride a bike along the beach), and not be a slave to anybody else’s schedule or interests. I might even learn a thing or two about myself. But at the same time it feels like it can be horribly depressing and lonely.
Who has done the solo travel thing before? What did you like, and what did you not like? Did you find it easy to meet new, like-minded people?
In a Daily News article today, Mets Manager Jerry Manuel said he would “take his blade out and cut [jose reyes],” if he ever throws a temper tantrum like he did the other night.
Watch out Phillies! You’re next! Quote after the jump.
Well, today was his last chance to get his shit together before the season started. Let’s see how it went…
Eaton (L, 0-3) IP 4.2 H 11 R 7 ER 7 BB 2 SO 1 HR 1 ERA 7.94
I’m trying to hit all the avenues of interests here on The Scrabbled. Gun control, music, now a little sports.
I’m sure many of you remember Lenny Dykstra. If you don’t, your name is probably Johnny H.
I propose that a bunch of us go to a Phillies game together sometime this season (the earlier the better). Most of us like baseball, and most of us like pulled pork sandwiches, and most of us like beer. It’s a win-win situation!
Maybe if we can get enough people, we can get “The Scrabbled” up on the scoreboard!
