NYC 5 Boro 2011 - Time Lapse

I was a total pro and forgot all but one 16gb memory card, so it ends just as we enter Central Park. It was my first time with a camera, apparently. Done with a GoPro HD Hero & handlebar mount.

Urban Exploration Of New York City’s Underground

An absolutely fantastic short documentary as some dudes run through abandoned subways and sewers.

Crazy NYC Storm on Thursday

I don’t know if the news about this storm got to all you South Jersey/Philly folk, but it was really intense and strange for this part of the world.

The Weakerthans Concert

The Weakerthans are playing a show at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City this Friday, Sept. 18, 2009.

Some of you already know that I purchased 4 tickets to this event months ago. In fact, some of you already have dibs on these tickets.

A Different Kind Of Concert

I have two tickets for a show in New York City for tonight. It is part of the Wordless Music Series and is located at the New York Society For Ethical Culture.

The line-up is:
The Mountain Goats
John Vanderslice
Miranda Cuckson, violin
Reiko Uchida, piano
(The latter pair performing music for piano and violin by Franz Schubert and Francis Poulenc apparently)

New York City Bike Tour

Tomorrow I’m taking the entire day to cycle through the city (mainly below 34 St.) and tour some stores I’ve heard about. I wouldn’t necessarily call it a shopping spree exactly, just a nice way to tour the city with landmarks.

I plan on posting about my discoveries/opinions later on.

List of stores after the jump…

New York Shitty

New York is a black hole for Democracy. As we speak, the New York City Council is voting to extend their own tenure as legislators.

Does anyone else think this is outrageous? Details after the jump.

Okkervil River @ Webster Hall

What a show! This band is such a powerful unit of folk rock it’s unbelievable. Every member plays so tightly and when they change something, they change it on a dime. When Will Sheff performs his music, you get a great sense of love and ownership of the tunes. Every slow song was captivating and every other selection was played like it was the finale.

The concert strengthened The Stand-ins, solidified The Stage Names and Black Sheep Boy and intrigued me to get their earlier albums.

New York City: The Playlist

My major hobby since moving to Jersey City is cycling. I take at least 2 small weekday trips and one major weekend one each week. I usually end up on the Hudson waterfront, and I almost always stop to take in the view.

I only wear headphones/iPod occasionally. But I was thinking tonight about what would be good New-York-City-view-while-cycling music.

Any thoughts?

Congestion Tax

So despite the fact that most of you guys live nowhere near NYC, I thought I’d ask your outside opinion on something.

What do you think about a congestion tax in a city, or what’s also known as congestion pricing?

details after the jump.
