Wired article I meant to post about a dude who makes his own industrial/noise/doom metal with entirely homemade instruments using Arduino micro controllers. Sound terribly nerdy? Check the videos in the comments…
Emeralds
Emeralds is a noise band. A gorgeous noise band. And I don’t mean to say that the dudes in the band are particularly attractive, though I’m sure they’re all quite fetching in their own way. No, Emeralds creates beautifully noisy electronic soundscapes that are just the best goddam thing in the world to sit and relax, work, read, or flat-out lay the floor with a pair of headphones and listen to.
(Ok, “the best” is probably a bit much, but it’s really good stuff.)

It’s everything I wanted it to be and more. Still very much the same band — if you liked their last few, you’ll like this one, too — but they seem to have incorporated a bit more song-writing, a few more dynamics, some tempos other than balls-out fast, letting a few songs build to their violent and coked-up climaxes rather than jumping in headfirst.
Jason Crumer - Ottoman Black
I like noise. I like noise a lot. But it’s not something I can listen to often. A lot of noise artists generate huge walls of unchanging, unrelenting sound that would leave you with a headache if you didn’t get bored and shut it off once you got the gist.
Not so with Jason Crumer’s Ottoman Black.
