Dancer in the Dark was a fantastic movie. Miserable as all get out, but fantastic. You just have to remember that Lars Von Trier hates you and he hates everyone you know. He hates everyone who has ever lived and he hates being alive and he wants you to understand how awful it is and that awful things happen and that people are bad and that the few good people out there have awful, hateful things happen to them. That’s all. He just wants you to realize that. And he wants you to fucking die. That’s all he wants.
