The Scrabbled: Making Fun of Each Other since '99

I know we’ve got a fairly wide range of political thought here on the Scrab (even if some tend to be quite a bit more vocal than others). What do you think of the Health Care Bill that just passed? In case you haven’t had a chance to review, here is The Congressional Budget Office’s reportings on the bill. The major headline being that it will save $130 billion in the first ten years and over a trillion in the next ten. I’ve heard there’s some controversy about the CBO findings, but I’m not sure if that’s conspiratorial wingnut controversy, or legitimate complaints.

And here’s a pdf of the actual bill itself if you actually want the only true, unbiased opinion you can possibly have on the damn thing. Boring reading, for certain, but worth skimming at the very least.

Have you all been following this guy’s exploits? Am I the only one who wants to smash his smarmy, grand-standing face into a wall? He’s single handedly killing the healthcare bill and for what?

I was surprised and delighted to find that he was still discussing the public option at all, but a bit disappointed still that he seems to be ready to take it off the table.

And then there was the asshole Republican, Joe Wilson, who felt the need to yell “you lie” when health care for immigrants was being discussed. Amazing. In eight years, not one Dem does this to Bush, and this prick thinks he can scream it in the middle of a speech and about something he’s factually wrong.

I also like that Obama tossed a boned to the Republicans on the whole malpractice/tort reform — something about “demonstration projects in several states” though I don’t know what the deal with that is.

So who watched? What did you think?

i do not quality for any individualized health plan offered by my county or my state.

Have you guys been following the news on it? Most recent headline is that the governors are all balking at possibly being forced to cover something they don’t have the budget to do. But, as the theory goes, after 10 years the plan will actually save money. What do you guys think?
