I'm going camping in a hurricane.

Tomorrow until Monday in New Hampshire. Technically it could miss us, but still. I’m preparing to get soaked.

Any camping-in-the-rain tips anyone wants to share? Or at the very least, any favorite drinking games/alcoholic drinks that make your camping experience more fun?

We’ve got fireworks, slightly legal drugs, and 11 people. And a shitload of tarps.

Camping. And questions.

I. love. camping. I love it. It completely recharges me more than just about any vacation. It’s the complete disconnection from technology and the world, really, for an extended period of time. A hike is nice n’ all, but I still find myself anxious. It takes a day or so for the new-world anxiety to leave my bones and I can really relax and “commune with nature” and whatnot.

So Gos and I are going camping this week. We leave tomorrow to head to a little private campground in the pine barrens. It’s nothing hardcore and they have bathrooms n’ all, but it’s just getting to hang out in the woods and cook food over an open flame and read a shit ton and maybe do some canoeing.

But enough about me. Let’s talk about you. Read more for two questions for The Scrabbled at large.

A Small Delaware Excursion

So I went on a little camping trip from Saturday morning to Sunday evening. I went with my neighbor buddy Kyle, another friend, Nicky, and Kyle’s mom’s fiance, Cliff.

We packed up 2 canoes and launched from the Martins Creek Boat Access Area at 9:00am. A short cruise later, we arrived at our camp site destination. It was a simple island, zero population naturally. We cleared out a site near the water, pitched the tents, built a fireplace (there were a TON of stones in the area), collected plenty of timber and generally set up for the day.

i try to avoid Target because i usually cannot walk out of there without buying lots of things i didn’t walk in for.

however, they are having a big sale on their seasonal items – i.e. plastic dishes, cutlery, water bottles, totes, picnic baskets, grill stuff, camp chairs, etc. a lot of it is 30% off or more. i just got a whole plastic dining sets’ worth of camping items and a couple of totes for less than $15.

heads, up guys. i know some of you like the outdoorsy things.

About The Scrabbled

The Scrabbled is a group of people blogging about and linking to all manner of things. Usually we argue and make fun of each other. Everybody knows everybody through somebody so there are no strangers here. Most of us have even met in real life! If you happen to personally know someone here and would like to start arguing with and/or making fun of someone, shoot John an email and ask to sign up. Otherwise, you're just going to have to read in relative silence. Sorry.
