I’m curious what everyone thinks of John Cage. If you don’t know John Cage, he’s the dude who abstracts music to the point where music is merely defined as our perception of sound (or the absence of sound). Any sound (or lack of sound) can be music if we listen to it as such.

So where does he fit in your view of music? A crackpot? A genius? Just some dude with some ideas that work in theory but never in practice? Or is he not even worth considering? Does anything he had to say have any relevance today? Is this is a stupid post that no one’s going to pay any attention to? And other questions.

so the shack I get my crabs from sends out a weekly email of prices and whatnot, new this week on the menu is fried alligator nuggets. has anyone ate alligator? (fried or not)

Apparently, when Edward Gorey first started watching TV in the 70’s (he was a late-comer), he became a huge Star Trek fan. However, when asked, he admitted with regret that he had never seen the series’ most famous episode, The Trouble With Tribbles. And it’s a shame. Because this is what might have been.

You have to have someone else post it for you. And you can’t ask them to do it. Cause that’s also vain.

Rice-Boy, a webcomic that’s both excellently drawn and compellingly written. One of the best currently published on the net. The immense variety of character design and whimsical landscapes blow my freakin’ mind.

Keep in mind, though, that it’s all one very long story… so start at the beginning if you start at all.

Just so you know, the logo for the 2012 Olympics sucks ass.

What is it about Olympic logos and mascots that invites such terrible, terrible design?! I’d sooner have every single country on the globe engaged in a brutal, endless war instead of having poor branding thrown upon us every time we decide to hang out and play games.

How is it that the National Design Awards can have such a poorly designed website?

I know nobody reads thescrabbled on the weekends, BUT my show opening is tonight and you should come. It’s at the Docks Gallery at Crane Arts, 1400 N. American St, from 5:30 to 8pm! Free wine! And then you’ll already be in the city to go to bars and pretend you care about Mexican independence by drinking beer!
