I saw Serenity Friday night with a whole bunch of friends. Being a fan of the series, I knew I was in for a ride. But I didn’t know that the ride it took me on would be this much fun.

Everything about the movie left me shocked and awed. Witty dialogue, very intense action sequences, and an awesome story. The characters are very lovable and the chemistry between them seems real. If you do anything go and see this movie, several times if you feel like it.
You don’t have to see the show to see the movie, it does a good job at bringing you up to speed with the story. But I recommend that you see the DVDs first because you will become more attached to the characters and their story. Plus more Firefly is always good.
Opposing view point:
I LOVE the series. LOVE it. More than star trek. More than Quantum Leap, and it’s an equal tie for lost to me.
That should more than amply descibe my love for the show.
With that said – I HATED the movie. HATE. SEETHING ANGER.
I don’t want to say anything that would spoil it for the curious, and i know it’s the popular mindset round here that i hate everything, but this was something that i was looking forward to since i started watching the show, and i was let down SO hard.
Fuck that movie.
I did. It didn’t have nearly as long a run, but i think there was a quality about it that many other sci-fi series lacked. I don’t know exactly what it was, but it was good.
Now don’t get me wrong, i LOOOOVE quantum leap, and it will forever be one of my favorite shows, i just think Firefly eeked out a close victory in my heart over it.
Also, Serenity was bad.
i saw the movie and i’m a huge fan of the show, and i LOVED the movie. is there any way you could tell me what you hated so much about the film, without ruining it for anybody else who might want to see it? i’m just really curious as to what bugged you, because i went into it waiting to be disappointed, but it rocked my socks right off.
I haven’t seen it yet, but I know exactly what Jeff is talking about. I don’t like what happened, but I have no qualms against it. Whedon had a point to prove and he did it, regardless of what other people would think. He didn’t make this movie to cater to one person.
…probably hates SERENITY for the same reasons he hated ST: Nemesis. Nemesis isn’t NEARLY as bad as Jeff will try and tell you it is. He just REALLY likes Data, so the whole movie is terrible.
now greek, there is a difference between nemesis and serenity. Nemesis was poorly directed with an amalgam of things stolen from all the other fantasy/sci-fi movies (LOTR, X-men, star wars) that were out at the time. Serenity didn’t make me mad because of the way it was done, but rather the fact that what happened happened. I liked it up until the last ten minutes.
Perhaps i am being unfair in my assessment of Serenity, but that’s just the way i am. Nemesis though, was really a bad movie. It didn’t stick with continuity, the story was weak at best, and the cinematography was for shit.
Yes, i am unfair to serenity, but HOW DARE HE DO THAT TO ME!!! MOTHERFUCKER!!
how does it feel knowing that you will inevitably hate lost? They will inevitably kill a character you love or take a turn in a direction you don’t like and you will stop watching it and hate it.
I don’t like any of the characters enough on lost to feel that way about it, but in firefly there was a character with whom i identified very closely. It was like they killed me. And i don’t praticularly like the guys that kill me.
(watch firefly and you will get that last line)

I have always loved marijuana. It has been a source of joy and comfort to me for many years. And I still think of it as a basic staple of life, along with beer and ice and grapefruits – and millions of Americans agree with me.
