Note that not every app in Cydia is iOS 5 compliant yet. I installed a dimmer app I like that wasn’t ready and my phone wouldn’t boot. I had to go back into DFA mode and restore it from iTunes.

Note: you can’t break your phone jail breaking. You can only make it so that you have to restore it via iTunes.
