Philadelphia Flyer shakeup!
I thought Carter was going top be shipped out, Richards was the surprise. I thought at least they would take the ‘C’ off him, but in getting the top overall prospect in hockey back and a brotha, they did good.
Carter lands the 8th overall pick in the draft and an extra 3rd round pick. Seeing as the Flyers first pick of the draft was in the third round, this is nice.

Just stunning. I think everyone knew Carter’s days were numbered especially if they wanted to sign Bryzgalov but the Richards deal came out of no where. Hopefully Schenn is as good as his “top prospect” status.
TSN is reporting that they just signed Bryzgalov to a 9 yr/51 million dollar deal. Hopefully after 15 years of every Flyers goalie being ‘the goalie of the future’, Bryzy is the one.
Rumors afloat that the Flyers could be making a run at Stamkos from the Lightning. Don’t know how true this is, but that would be amazing.
Damn! I didn’t see that coming. I thought those were the guys you were building around, though I have read Richards is difficult to deal with.
It’s going to be awesome when the league reviews Bryz’ contract and determines that it circumvents the cap a la Kovalchuk. Voracek is the best player coming back your way; don’t get too excited for Schenn, he’s not a special player. Very interesting day in Flyer land.
crazy. I thought Carter and Richards were in Philly for the (relatively) long haul. Hopefully this goalie they are making room for doesn’t get injured instantly.
I listened to Richards’ interview on Preston & Steve this morning and he claimed that he found out he was traded from one of those hockey news alerts via text message. Does anyone else find that really surprising and/or possibly untrue?
