Seriously, why could this have not been on King of Limbs. And why couldn’t King of Limbs had more songs like this. Mostly because it’s an actual song and not what feels like sketches of songs dragged out to song length like KOL does.
Well, maybe in 2 years we’ll get an album of this type of stuff, which I will enjoy greatly.
I really don’t get it. The other two songs left off of king of limbs are great, too:

Not as great as Staircase and These are My Twisted Words, but certainly album-worthy. It’s like they’re too in love with the LP-length 8-10 track album.
No, if they were in love with the LP length 8-10 track album then they would have put out a better one than King of Limbs was. It seems more like they just need a better producer to tell them what’s good and what’s less good. I’m sure they’re just so used to getting smoke blown up their collective asses with people telling them everything they do is nothing less than pure genius so it makes it hard to figure out what stuff is actually better than others.
I think all of them are somewhat indulgent, even the ones I like (Lotus Flower, Seperator, Morning Mr. Magpie). Most of them are just the same beat/note/sequence/whatever repeated for several minutes. Which is fine on an ambient record, or even for a Radiohead single or a couple of songs on every album. But they usually mix it up with a few more organic sounding songs or some songs with a few more dynamic flourishes in them.
