Make Your own Version of the Kaiser Chiefs New Album

its the most interesting way to release an album i’ve ever heard of. you pick your favorites from 20 different songs they recorded, sequence the tracks, make your own artwork and download it. they also put it up on their website and if someone else buys your version of it, you get a buck.

I don’t know anything about this band other than that “I Predict A Riot” song, but I agree. This is pretty great.

John has obviously contested me on this, but I really enjoy their first two albums. That said, I have no real desire to design my own KC album – is there a ready-made version?

I enjoy all 3 Of their albums. I thought this was a fun way to be sure to get songs you like, if any at all, and weed out what you’d consider filler. Their version comes out the 27th of June. With one track that’s not included on 20 you get to choose from.

Huh, I don’t quite get it. I mean from a marketing perspective, I’m sure it helps, but I feel like it’s on the band to really think about and plan what the best songs are, how they sound together, and create a decent hour’s worth of music. How am I supposed to do that without having heard these songs before? Even after a few listens, I wouldn’t feel right about making my own album.

And yeah, as for the Kaiser Chiefs themselves, I never got why anyone would be into this band, as they just seemed another dance-rock tag-along with nothing new or interesting about them. I mean, the literally flipped their style overnight so they wouldn’t sound out of place touring with The Bravery or any of those “MTV2 bands” from that era. They just come off as immensely phony to me.

Don’t believe your friends when they ask you to be honest with them. All they really want is to be maintained in the good opinion they have of themselves.
