I'm not a chicken, you're a turkey!

I saw today that Florida enacted a law requiring drug tests for welfare recipients.
I kept seeing this as a facebook thing that seemed like a good idea but was meaningless slacktivism, but I guess not.

I’m for it. If I have to pass one to pay in, why shouldn’t it be required to receive out. I expect vehement disagreement, hopefully not just slippery slope crap.

I have issues with this from a civil liberties standpoint, but I can understand disagreeing with me on that point so that’s not an issue. It’s one of those issues I think it’s reasonable to disagree on. But who says you have to pass one to pay in? I haven’t had a drug test in probably 15 years.

What I do take issue with is this: The governer (Rick Scott) who pushed this, and signed this legislation owns drug testing companies throughout Florida that needless to say will benefit from that legislation. That seems fairly skeevy to me.

Just one question: what is the point of welfare/unemployment? Your answer to this question should put the whole drug testing thing into perspective.

I certainly needed one for my last few jobs, assuming payroll and income taxes are the source for funding.

How is it shaming poor people for being poor? If anything, it’s shaming poor (or unemployed) people for spending money on drugs.

I see the point being to provide financial assistance when a person or family is unable to reasonably get by on their own. I’m not against it going towards recreational uses, since people gotta live. But putting it towards self destructive and self perpetuating vices (I know pot and some other things are non addictive/toxic/harmful, but they all get lumped in on something like this) seems unreasonable.

The civil liberties part was a concern for me, but I don’t see it as being terrible for government money to come with a caveat that it can’t go towards something illegal. So long as test results are not used to incriminate people in any legal way.

The conflict of interest thing is pretty sleezy, and just asking for judicial review of some type.

We’re reckless arrogant stupid dicks. And the Film Actors Guild are pussies. And Kim Jong Il is an asshole. Pussies don’t like dicks because pussies get fucked by dicks, but dicks also fuck assholes. Assholes who just wanna shit on everything. Pussies may think that they can deal with assholes their way, but the only thing that can fuck an asshole is a dick, with some balls. The problem with dicks is that sometimes they fuck too much, or fuck when it isn’t appropriate, and it takes a pussy to show ‘em that. But sometimes pussies get so full of shit that they become assholes themselves. Because pussies are only an inch and a half away from assholes. I don’t know much in this crazy crazy world. But I do know that if you don’t let us fuck this asshole, we’re gonna have our dicks and our pussies all covered in shit.
