Jimmy Fallon Show

Does anyone watch this? I’m not a big watcher of late-night shows, let alone television in general. But I just caught a Youtube video with Kid Cudi, Cage, and St. Vincent and was not just impressed with the song itself.

The Roots play as the show’s band, and the sound quality of the video was incredible too. I don’t know exactly, but Fallon had Danny Boyle and Zach Galifianakis, so it seems the show is pretty hip.

Said video after jump.

I heard him say once, maybe on Fresh Air, that he doesn’t give a shit about timeslots, he’s just hoping to get one viral video out of each show. It’s sort of a novel approach to television — success via the web — but it’s sort of funny that it only works cause he’s on television. If it were just a web show, it’d probably fail immediately.

Honestly, most late night shows that’s how I feel about it. There’s no way I’m going to bother watching an hour or an hour and a half of filler to see one or two good moments, when inevitably the magic of the internets will filter it all out and show me the good stuff. It’s the same reason why I could never even fathom sitting through an actual episode of Saturday Night Live.

Musically though, he definitely seems to have the best performers and some of the better performances. This one included.

He’s on opposite Craig Ferguson, which means there’s no reason to watch him.

Craig Ferguson’s show is fantastic. I really enjoyed those Sean Connery’s Holiday Memoirs.
