Jeff Mangum is also playing at ATP this October and it’s in Asbury Park
and is also planning several shows other than that

Anyway I was just looking at show listings and this is happening on a day between J Mascis playing and Sebadoh playing. fuuuck

yeah but don’t you have to pay a whole three-day pass to see him which is like well over $200?

hoping for a tour if that’s the case!

i saw sebadoh in 06. i literally fell asleep standing up. not cos they were boring, but because i took two benedryl.

Not exactly, he’s playing on Friday for the three-day pass getters, but also playing a show on Monday that is separate.
I saw Sebadoh in 04 with a CD in a boombox instead of a drummer, and it was like, the greatest thing. The entire point of turning 21 for me was to be able to see Lou Barlow play in bars.

Sebadoh! One of my favorites! Saw them around 96, I think… Elliot Smith opened up! Roadies slow danced on stage!
Saw them a few years later…. One of the worst shows I’ve ever seen. A band called Bunny Brains opened and were terrible but featured a guy in tighty whiteys and rabbit ears ( the lead singer), who had to be forcibly escorted off stage.

Saw Folk Implosion at The Balcony in 2000, but the other guy in the band didn’t show up! Lou Barlow didn’t know how to work his drum machine thing and kept begging people in the audience to buy him a bourbon. I talked to him afterwards and he literally didn’t understand a thing I said but he gave me a guitar pick.

I love Sebadoh and have seen them a bunch of times back in the day, but Lou Barlow really is an insufferable, whiny baby on every possible level.

I’m actually considering that ATP festival in Asbury Park, since I like the festival idea but don’t want any part of any outdoor deal with dirt, and rain, and camping with thousands of drunk, annoying people.

Wow Christina, I thought those tickets sold out real quick. Maybe it was only the Brooklyn and Manhattan shows (since Mangum allegedly lives around there).

I’ll certainly attend though.

I just read about a plan for Mangum to be doing more shows of fall 2010 besides the ATP festival.
