I love Hank something fierce and even in this he’s funny. But he’s more than a little defensive in that clip. Someone yells out the title to his book and he considers that hipsters mocking him? Maybe he is so used to it happening that he starts seeing derision where none exists. Or he’s just got a serious complex or something.
Really? I’d be pretty psyched.
Plus even if they were, you’d think that a guy who spent the better part of his 20’s being spit on, having urine thrown in his face, glass broken on his head, and cigarettes put out on his body and assorted other shenanigans would have a thicker skin about some skinny hipster girl saying his name in a tone he didn’t like.
No doubt he’s being defensive, but like Kev and Bill said, it may not have been entirely without cause. I just found the whole interaction to be wholly enjoyable and found myself squirming in agony wondering what the poor Iranian girl must have been feeling.
I think he went in there looking for shit. I mean, right off the bat, he’s going off on hipster elitism as he shows the girl various records. He had a camera with him, he wanted to put on a show. Kudos, I say. Good show!
