I used to do quizzes many moons ago. Not as a team but as the quizmaster.
I used to love putting those things together and recently I have found myself taking mental notes for possible questions.
SO, I need someone to volunteer a house, my place is too small, and a few of you lot to come round to said house and we will set teams up – I prefer to do this by lottery on the night, but whatever the majority wants will rule.
I have already got a good number of questions set up. categories will most likely include: Music, probably 20Q 10 from 2 decades tbd, Sport, general knowledge/trivia and then one special subject,(politics/history/geography, etc.)
I promise not to anglophile it and will make it a good two hours worth of people calling me names.
I guess I will need a location before before anyone can sign up so, any takers?

Ohhh can it be after October 3rd? That’s when I move back to Philadelphia. I would bring the cider.

I’m not sure why Sam thinks our house would be better, but we’ll sign up to host round 2.
I’m so in, but I suck at music, and am completely oblivious to sports.
Might I suggest a geography section? Or current events? Basic science? Theoretical physics?
I would loooooooooooooove some nerdier questions. It’s my one problem with most bar quizzes. They’ll drag out the most obscure sports trivia ever, but the only geeky question I’ll see is “What does ‘cpu’ stand for?” or “What pet did Schrodinger make famous?” (‘central processing unit’ and ‘cat,’ natch).
We are in, and guarantee victory.
Scratch that, I think Kev’s questions would be too weird.

I could miss out the sports section, I would not want to, but it can be done.
Honestly you may be surprised at how much sports knowledge you have, I am naught but your servant hers.

I am happy to put questions together on whatever subjects you want, I can promise my music questions will be very different to your usual ones and my history questions will cause much merriment.

I was offering to host a second go-round, as I think Paris and Sammy’s place would be great (huge living room, spare bedroom, easy access to public transit), but if the consensus is everyone would rather our place… well… it would depend massively on when. Our place is a shambles at the moment due to both our hectic work schedules. I’d need time to finish some house work and for us to clean. Hence an assumed second quiz night making more sense as our turn to host.
And, for the record, I don’t think you should leave out any category. My gripe was more at an imbalance in most bar quizzes and how, while I might know far more trivial bullshit that 99% of the people in the bar, I end up screwed because there was a “Football of the 70’s” category instead of a ""Star Wars Bounty Hunters" category. Cause, seriously, I’ve read entire volumes on IG-88 and Bossk alone.

9/11, 9/18, 10/9 and 10/23 are our only free weekends at the moment. I’d really love to take part, so I hope we find one that works, but by all means, go for the weekend that gets the most people. I’d feel like an ass if you arranged it entirely around me.
This is a good excuse for me to come down south. Any time after I get back from Oktoberfest (I bumped the post Evan made a few years ago looking for some advice but got no responses) on 10/2 is good.

I second geography questions and any weekend after the beginning of October. And maybe some good teen fiction/young adult lit questions!

I’m sure there’ll be at least one or two other sober people Bill can be all sober at. Whether or not it’s his teammate is up to luck, I suppose. Or we can just vodkaboard (like waterboarding, but, y’know, way more fun) him.
if we are up for this can I get some confirmations to allow me to fine tune my questions. I have no problem with non Scrabblers attending this by the way, just need some numbers and more specifics on questions.
