How Roy Oswalt ended up playing left field in inning 15 last night.
In case you missed it. With video of Howard being tossed.

That ump was tossing either way, you could see it in his eyes when Howard first got upset, even though he went over and pretty much apologized, saying he was more angry at himself.
The guy was on a mission and if Howard had said it was a good call the would have been out of the game.
that was the second night running this crew, could, have cost the Phillie’s vital wins.
most ridiculous phillies game i’ve ever been to – including when a shitty phils’ pitcher hit a grand slam back in the late 90s.
anyway, the hand-on-the-hip mocking thing is totally unprofessional. this guy was the home plate ump in a game maybe two weeks ago and threw out zimmerman of the nats after he threw his bat down. that i’m pretty sure zimmerman struck out swinging! ridiculous. totally unprofessional. ryan howard had every right to flip shit.
anyway, the cheers for roy oswalt catching that first fly ball were amazing. and go was the “let’s go oswalt” chants when he was up to bat.
shmEvan said:are you talking about the game when Jeff Juden hit the Grand Slam off Hideo Nomo back in Nomo’s rookie year? That was great!
actually, i’m referring to the 2002 game against the expos. robert person started that day (and did well) and his two homeruns, he hit a grand slam in the first inning and a three-run homer later in the game.
The ump needs to have a better head and just look away if a player is acting up until the last possible second. Howard had a rough game and that should have been on the umps mind as well, look at the replays and it seems that the ump threw him out with no hesitation, which is a problem as well.
Still not justifying what RH did was right, his actions caused two people to play out of position, one of them being the prize trade-deadline acquisition. Giving him a night off was probably the right thing to do.
