i wish there was no such thing as “into reading” and people just did it. i remember a time when that was the case and there were seemingly less idiots.

i love the internet & technology like WHOA but i am going to try my damndest to avoid it a bit more after i move and focus on my preferred hands-on activities again like drumming & painting & cooking/baking.

for this reason, i am putting off buying an Xbox indefinitely.

also, cool website.

The second link on there (http://biblioklept.org/2010/07/18/david-foster-wallace-on-commercial-literature-and-the-dread-of-reading/) addresses exactly that, Mandy, and sort of phrases it in a way that makes the non-readers a bit more understandable. Dude seems to understand what the issue is and compares it to appreciating classical music, which I get. I’ve personally experienced the sort of dread he refers to in the second part of the vid.

About The Scrabbled

The Scrabbled is a group of people blogging about and linking to all manner of things. Usually we argue and make fun of each other. Everybody knows everybody through somebody so there are no strangers here. Most of us have even met in real life! If you happen to personally know someone here and would like to start arguing with and/or making fun of someone, shoot John an email and ask to sign up. Otherwise, you're just going to have to read in relative silence. Sorry.
