Fishtown

I am moving there next month, about one block from Johnny Brenda’s. If any of you oldheads are around for a show there, give me a shout. Also, if you live in/know the area, give me some places to visit. I like food, beer, bikes, parks & galleries. GO!

Housewarming party at some point!

Err, so that was internet gadget typing and looks terrible, but the Crane Arts place is 1400 N. American Street. Second Thursday is like First Friday, just in the building.

You’ve also got the whole Northern Liberties thing nearby which has a ton of good shit.

Yea for Fishtown! Sketch on Girard has good burgers. The falafel at Kraftwork, also on Girard, is decent. They use mostly local ingredients. There’s a CSA in the neighborhood, if you are interested in getting a box of fresh local goodness once a month.
Port Richmond has some great authentic Polish restaurants. Take the Girard Ave Trolley away from the El to the end of the line and you’ll be right there. There’s also a good local bar across from the end of the trolley line called Byrnes. Typical multi-generational bar that has better than average bar food. There is also a cool, HUGE used bookstore on Richmond Street. It used to be a movie theater. Check that out when you go for your Polish food lunch.
Enjoy your new place!

i hardly ever venture past girard street, at least not on the northern liberties side, but when i do it’s usually to go to memphis tap

and speck is going to open in the piazza soon and it’s pretty much going to be the best restaurant in philly the minute the doors open.
