Aren't Pancakes Just Milk, Eggs and Flour?
I about died when I saw this at the supermarket this weekend. Anyone tried it?

My mom bought 2 cans of that (if you know my mom this is not surprising at all)when it first came out and gave me one to try. I tried it. Even for something so ridiculous, it was horribly bad. In texture, in taste, in every way possible. I’m honestly amazed it’s still on the market. Unless they’ve changed or reformulated it.

Not the direction I expected this comment to take. I was totally geared up for a “It was just fine and John’s a goddam snob” comment.

No way. I have no issue with the notion of homemade anything being better. That’s a no brainer. But depending on what it is, I have to do a figurative cost/benefit analysis. Ie: Is this SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH better homemade than it is to buy certain brands that I’m going to sacrifice precious time and energy and whatever other resources to do so. And more than anything that cost/benefit analysis is drastically different with 2 kids and a high pressure job and a house to clean and all that than it was during the time prior to that when I was single, or unemployed or childless or living in an apartment.
All that being said, this pancake stuff was absolutely, positively one of the worst things I have ever tasted or attempted to cook with. I would go pancakeless for the rest of my living days before I would even touch this stuff again.

While these are some pretty creative uses, I imagine Alycia was talking about actually making mashed potatoes with them. And there’s no way you can be down with that.
