John is hungry

Apparently you _don't_ have to cook your pasta in a huge pot of boiling water.

I am vindicated!

i have been messing around with hydrating pasta and then finishing it in boiling water to reheat/finish cooking. works with rice too. this way you could flavor the pasta if you wanted.

for example, you could soak uncooked pasta in a strong flavored basil water for an hour or two. drain. and then when you want to eat it. simply reheat for about a minute in boiling water and toss with tomato sauce.

Luke, that’s awesome!

I totally used your puffed parmesan rinds the other night, btw. Croutons in a broccoli soup.

I’ve almost never used giant pots of boiling water simply by virtue of not owning a giant pot for a long time. Now I have a giant pot and just don’t bother since it takes so goddamn long to heat up. I am not surprised by this news.

You know when they have a fishing show on TV? They catch the fish and then let it go. They don’t want to eat the fish, they just want to make it late for something.
