Why Roger Ebert hates 3D.

I get bad headaches and eye strain, so I hated it for that alone. He’s got many more good reasons.

I hate it for pretty much every reason he lists. It’s stupid, it adds little to the moviegoing experience and in many ways detracts from it. Good stories and solid, character driven movies are already rare and now it’s going to be even harder to get those made now that sleazy hollywood execs have their shiny new toy and are going to expect everything to be in 3D.

I’m mixed on the whole 3-D deal. I thought Avatar looked pretty cool with it but all in all this is a fad that will probably end sooner rather than later because soon there will be an overload of the product.

I am also not too keen on the idea of spending ‘x’ amount of dollars on a 3-D BluRay player and then an extra $$ on a pair of the glasses.

i don’t like it because i don’t wear glasses at all in my everyday life and have zero desire to wear them while watching a movie. once 3D goes glasses-free, i’ll have a look.
