Barcade up in Brooklyn is fun. Not the sort of place I’d put into any sort of regular rotation if it came to Philly, but definitely an endearing novelty.
My experience with the place has been that having 150-200 people milling around 20-25 arcade machines* just leads to a lot of aimless staring at different people’s backs. A person just looking to straight-up play games would probably have better luck at the system they’ve got stashed in the corner of Sugarmom’s. Or the Ms. Pacman machine in 12th Air Command that smells like lube.
- well, probably more like 15 arcade machines. Nobody wants to play Moon Patrol or Rush N’ Attack.
I was going to reply and tell both of you reasons why I think Rush N’ Attack sucks and isn’t a fun game.
Then I saw this artwork for the arcade and thought it was super-awesome 1980’s stuff!
my friends for some time have been planning a hot dog arcade place (for adults and kids) in the collingswood/westmont/oaklyn area.
i’m not really sure of an update but i know maybe about six or eight months ago, they went before the haddon township planning and zoning board.
i should ask them their update. some of you might know them. they own gradwell studios in haddon heights and if you’ve ever been inside, you know there’s a TON of arcade games they’ve been collecting over the years.
