Upcoming Albums
What is due out this year that everyone is looking forward to?
The month of May is going to be ridiculous for me because the new LCD Soundsystem, Band of Horses, and National records are going to be released. And each of those are follow ups to what were 3 of my favorite records of the past 10 years.
And normally I expect dissapointment when my expectations are that high, but with as good as the newest Shearwater record was (also following up one of my favorite albums) despite my heightened expectations, I’m hopeful all 3 of these upcoming ones are going to live up to my own personal hype.
What about everyone else?

The only upcoming album that I’m really conscious of and looking forward to is Arcade Fire, which doesn’t even have a date yet. I found this list of upcoming releases:

I heard a song off of the Dr. Dog album that seemed pretty cool, so I will probably check that out. I’m also kind of interested to see what Walter Schreifels is up to these days.
I have absolutely no idea what’s coming out. But hearing that a new LCD Soundsystem is on the way is very good news indeed.
Oh, and new Radiohead, obvs. No release date on that, though

Until he just sucks it up and does a Quicksand reunion, I’m not paying attention. If he can do a Gorilla Biscuits and a Rival Schools reunion there’s no reason he can’t pull together Quicksand as well.
I just heard the Quicksand bassist is going to be touring with the Deftones. So that might not happen for a bit.

I really hope the new LCD has some songs other than just repetitive jokey phrases over disco beats. What made Sound of Silver so great was it had those, plus things like All My Friends, Get Innocuous, and NY I Love You. So if Drunk Girls and Pow Pow are the “fun” songs on this album that’s cool as long as there’s other stuff. But if these are indicative of the whole album I could see that getting old real fast.
I like it. Video and song. The new LCD songs made me less stoked on that album but this one and the 2 National songs made me more psyched for those.
The opposite of what I have thus far discussed in this thread is the fact that I just found out that a new Hold Steady album is coming out. So I’ll have to endure endless reviews and discussions about how brilliant this crap that sounds like Randy Newman fronting a third rate bar band is.
FUCK.
Also, 2 new LCD songs. These are much more my speed. Less novelty party anthem and more Yaz/OMD/Depeche Mode type jams.

So far this LCD Soundsystem album is outstanding.
