Liars - Sisterworld
Just grabbed this the other day. I’m curious to see what you guys think of it, especially the pre-existing liars fans (and I know there are at least a couple of you). On my first listen through, I noticed a few cool moments, but on the whole, it didn’t really grab me. Wondering if this was anyone else’s experience or if you guys are loving it.

I’ve only had a chance to listen to the album once through, but i liked it. I’ve never heard any of their other stuff before, so I have nothing to compare it to.
Drums Not Dead is my favorite by them. An absolutely incredible album. Very sinister and hypnotic.
On first listen I like it. Not loving it, but I can see myself enjoying it on deeper listens. Maybe it won’t be my favorite by them, but by the third or fourth album I don’t really expect bands to blow me away. Not that they can’t, it’s just mostly against the law of averages for them to pull it off.

i’m only 3 songs in, but I’m liking this a whole lot.
I’m on my 3rd listen to this and I think it’s really great. The songwriting is still as good as on previous records, but I think the one noticeable difference is that they dialed back the reverb quite a bit. It’s still there in parts but not the main aesthetic. Which normally I would say is good since I think reverb is too much of a crutch with most indie bands nowadays. But with Liars it added to the creepiness of their music so with it scaled down a bit there’s definitely something that is lost.
After my second listen, Kev, I think you hit the nailed on the head. Less creepiness, solid songwriting.
And maybe a bit punk rockier.
