Really, that is it????
It is not a nice part of the game, agreed, but it is part and parcel and like all games that rely purely on how an incident is seen by the referee(s)there will always be some theatrics.
I am a great believer in keeping the game this way and not having technology introduced to avoid the stupid delays you get in NFL and, to a point, hockey.
You are aware that this thing happens in all sports including ice hockey and baseball? I know baseball is, mostly, non contact. But if a player claims to have caught a ball cleanly, by waving his glove in the air, when TV shows an obvious non catch, the same principle applies.
Also with all sports now being filmed by a million cameras and super slo mo replays available the player being the dick is usually shown as such.

Also, as far as diving is concerned, you need to realize that professional soccer players are all actually fragile little flowers. They aren’t acting at all in these collisions.
