Short reviews:
- 1001 Nights Orchestra – very, very cool. Gypsy/klezmer music that skirts the line between authenticity and a slight update.
- Aa – sort of Liars-y, but a bit more IDM/techno. Very cool.
- Absu – eh. Fairly unremarkable black metal.
- Acid Mothers Temple & a bunch of other people
always enjoyed AMT -this is a bit more straight-forward psychedelic than I’m used to hearing from them. - Adonis Puentes – sounds like La Esperanza. Slinky samba. Good stuff.
- Adventure – sounds like Ninja Gaiden. I dig.
- AkashA – uhhhhh WHOAH. REALLY awesome bluegrass/celtic bhangra with some pretty awesome use of voice. Not quite beatboxing, but not quite singing. Never heard anything quite like it. Very, very cool.
- Akina Adderley & the Vintage Playboys – ugh, this sounds like 80’s family movie opening sequence music.
that’s it for now.
Wow, there’s a lot of these, aren’t there?
In short: Sammy has no idea what he’s talking about.
- Alina Simone – Sort of PJ Harvey-ish. Really good, moody rock music.
- Allo Darlin – I want to hug this song. I want to hold it and shelter it from the evils of the world.
- Alvarez Kings – I no longer have the desire to hear any new angular rock riffs played to snappy disco beats. No more. I’m done with dancing. Not even your catchy group yells will save you, Alvarez Kings.
