The video is long, but it gets pretty awesome towards the end.

When he starts doing the points for brushing your teeth and and getting to work on time, I think I had a little miniature panic attack. I’m not sure if it’s cause I’m terrified or really excited for the future.

I’m terrified. I don’t want this game.

But I like the Super Mario World coin sound.

Wow okay, so that last minute or two made me feel majorly insignificant. A popular reason for living is to find a way to make your name live on forever. But if every activity of everyone is tracked then everybody has their name live on forever. And now it doesn’t really feel that important to be remembered forever.

I think the concept of porno-points is enough to disprove his thought about becoming better citizens.

I am terrified of this future and really hoped he would turn it around at the end and say “Which one or group of us will stand up and stop this madness before it begins?”

This was a bit misleading for me since I just started playing Heavy Rain and the first five minutes involve brushing your teeth. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_Rain

I did skip to the last 10 minutes or so, and by his overall demeanor, I initially thought he was a crack pot, until I started realizing that I’ve been thinking all of this stuff for years ( and it’s not my original thought, or his, it’s just a logical conclusion).
Last night, we watched Lost on DVR and I wondered if in the future, there would be bonuses or special content for people that didn’t fast forward their DVRs through the commercials.
Since DVRs became more widespread, I’ve already noticed the change in commercial formatting. Advertisers are very clever people.
I think anyone who thinks in depth about advertising and marketing in general knows that this is indeed the future.
It’s going to happen, and there’s nothing we can do about it and it’s scary as hell to me.

About The Scrabbled

The Scrabbled is a group of people blogging about and linking to all manner of things. Usually we argue and make fun of each other. Everybody knows everybody through somebody so there are no strangers here. Most of us have even met in real life! If you happen to personally know someone here and would like to start arguing with and/or making fun of someone, shoot John an email and ask to sign up. Otherwise, you're just going to have to read in relative silence. Sorry.
