Official announcement won’t come til Friday, although it sounds like they’re trying to fit it all into one weekend. I was wondering how they would handle it this year with the expansion of the field, should be interesting.
The movies, just in case you didn’t see:
Avatar
A Serious Man
An Education
Inglourious Basterds
The Hurt Locker
District 9
Up
Up in the Air
Precious
The Blind Side (this year’s The Reader I’m guessing)
some more info has been released. they are splitting it up into two saturdays. feb 27 and march 6. the oscars are march 7. i’m posting this shortly before 11 p.m. on sunday the 7th and until midnight, you can vote on what movies will be shown along with avatar, which will be in 3D.
i signed up as a “movie watcher” since it’s a cheaper ticket. it’s free so if you guys are interested, i suggest you do the same!

i’ll prob go but only if the movies link up nicely to what i have already seen.
John said:I almost don’t want to do this just because it involves watching Avatar again. It’s not just that it wasn’t a very good movie, it’s that the 3D totally fucks up my eyes.
Yeah, I have no desire to watch that again. Maybe we could go hang out at the mall or something. Pretend to be Kevin Smith characters.
okay there is less of a chance that i’m going to do this. mostly due to the fact that i watched two more of the 10 movies nominated for best picture while holed up in my house for the past two days.
they were: a serious man and up. both available on demand, in hd, in the privacy of my own home for $4.99.
both were fantastic … in COMPLETELY different ways.
you don’t have on demand anymore, do you?
download it. because i can imagine fake movie fans that go to the picture showcase (not me or anyone on the scrabbled – but those annoying people you all remember from previous years) will HATE it.
it’s very coen-y in the fact that it completely encompasses the devout american-jewish culture and the short scenes and tragic moments really hit you. it’s very dark and pretty funny. i say enjoy it with people who like their movies. and not just “the big lebowski.”
okay so they announced the lineups.
Saturday, Feb. 27
10:30AM: AVATAR (3D)
1:45PM: Up
3:45PM: A Serious Man
6:30PM: Precious
8:45PM: District 9
Saturday, March 6
10:30AM: An Education
12:45PM: The Hurt Locker
3:15PM: Up in the Air
6:00PM: The Blind Side

yeah i’m not going. i saw three the first date and two the second and of course, they are all spaced out.
Well that pretty much decides it. Ima see if I can’t download the movies I actually care to see, then maybe hosting our own little thing. Obviously, numbers will have to be limited cause I think we can only comfortably fit 6-10 or so (depending on how creative and personal you get with furniture), but yeah. More info later.Hopefully by the first week of march.
