i know John’s & Apple’s dramarama overshadowed this post, but i am sad that no one seems to care about NEW CANDY AND SNACKS. i sure as shit do. i’m tempted go and try it all on my own.

Apologies, I just haven’t had a chance to look at it. Which is funny, seeing as I’m not working and should therefore have more time, but it seems to be quite the opposite.

Anyway, this looks like a buyers convention. We can’t go. Take it from someone who just spent four years designing this exact type of website for this exact kind of trade group.

Yep, just poked around the reg page. A registered company is required. New companies have to be registered beforehand. There’s probably a several hundred dollar fee to get in, too. They don’t hit you with that till the end of the reg process, as is customary.

it’s $50 from what i saw but i could totally sneak into that shit, take it from someone who spent years doing A/V for this kind of thing. very easy.

oh well.

If it were in Philly, I’d be all for sneaking in. But I’d hate to drive all the way out to Chicago and then not make it in.

Let’s make a pact to sneak into cool stuff in Philly, if it ever comes here. Which it never does.

Yeah, as someone who has worked in the food industry for 15 years now and actually been to (what I believe is) this convention…..not so much fun. There’s some interesting stuff but so much of it is just vague, maybe ideas and prototypes and I’d say 80-90% of the stuff they show at these things don’t ever make it even close to market. To John’s point…if it were in Philly then maybe (and strangely enough I think that’s where I attended it years ago). But to go to Chicago just for it….I wouldn’t advise it.

If Ima head out to Chicago to eat food, I’m going to go all out. Make reservations in advance and what have you and hit all the places I’m most interested in. This necessitates two things:

1. a paycheck
2. no plans to attend a food convention.

I thought Mandy was a Russian adopted baby. Turns out she’s “just” a Jersey adopted baby, but I’m not letting go of the Russian thing.
