An awesome book I have been reading about how statistical regressions are slowly but surely replacing expert intuition in pretty much every industry. Fuck you Mr. wine connoisseur, I have data and equations!

Sounds like an awesome book. I intuitively like the trend towards data over expert intuition, but I’d be curious if this book has a different take on it.
The book definitely has the same take you do, and it provides some pretty compelling evidence that this is the correct take. It does still leave room for the experts to be heard though, being that there does need to be a human involved to decide what exactly to test using what parameters. I wonder what kind of role this will play in all this health care reform.
I’m guessing none. Capital Hill does not yet operate along the lines of fact and common sense. I think the next two generations are going to have to die before we even get close to that.
