daybreakers

i saw it last nite

i think what prompted dave and i to see it was the pretty cool visual representation of vampires, a potentially interesting storyline about vampires integrated in our culture (a la true blood but without the campy-ness) and the eventual downfall of the human race because of said vampires.

and mostly because ethan hawke is one hot guy and willem defoe is one creepy motherfucker.

oh and i had a gift card.

so yeah, the movie was eh. ethan hawke was quite vapid as a blood doctor experimenting on humans to find a blood substitute but only drinks pig’s blood because he’s a human-lover. how edward cullen of him.

willem dafoe played this southern-accented renegade with the nickname of “elvis” who may have found a “cure” for the blood substitute problem – which will eventually wipe out the vampire population in a few short weeks. needles to say, there aren’t too many humans arond HEHE YA KNOW WHAT I MEAN?

anyway, the movie was one big allegory about humans killing humans. i didn’t dig it.

anyone else see it?
