Road Trip Food
What do you guys like to eat on road trips? I made it from Phoenix, AZ to Odessa, TX on sunflower seeds and diet mt. dew (I’ll admit, I stopped for lunch). You?

I’ve been wanting to make Jamie Hyneman’s 444.

Otherwise, I’m all about the rest stops. I don’t like bringing food in the car and rest stops are great for greasy food and people watching. And cinnabon!
I went on a cross-country road trip when I was 18. We did something like 27 states in 24 days and it cost me a grand total of about $800, including gas and hostels. I probably spent like $150 on food throughout the entire trip eating mostly bread and cold soup from supermarkets. I have money now though, so I would probably spring for some Waffle House in the south, or some Del Taco out west.
I do trail mix or Chex Mix. And I slice up apples and pluck grapes off the vine and stuff them into ziplocks beforehand for easy snacking while driving. I’ve also done cubes of cheese and turkey pepperoni with crackers. I tried pistachios, but they’re kind of a challenge one-handed. I usually stop in Connecticut on my way from MA to NJ and either eat at a diner or stop at my favorite place — Super Duper Weenie.
NO GUYS YOU HAVE TO STOP PLACES AND EAT what is wrong with you?! We bring food with us and all, but you have to stop and eat awesome things. Especially in the south. BISCUITS. OH MY GOD, YOU GUYS, BISCUITS. Even at gross places they are awesome. We actively were seeking Bojangles for cheddar biscuits. Agh. FOOD. FUCK YOU TRAIL MIX.
Wow. I didn’t think this would generate such hatred. I can have good biscuits and gravy anywhere. I live in Atlanta. There’s not much more south left in this country. I’ll be travelling towards the mason dixon line. They don’t talk about the civil war down here…never have. They talk about the War of Northern Agression.
when sam, john and i drove back from ohio last year, we ate at this podunk diner in ohio. do you guys remember that place? everyone stared at us when we walked in.
it was in zanesville, ohio and was called nicol’s restaurant and ice cream.
it was across the street from this place
Cheddar Goldfish are my favorite things to buy for roadtrips.
A stop at a rest stop is worth it to grab a Coke Zero to go along with the goldfishes.
I always try to eat healthy but I trust a roast beef sandwich from arby’s over a salad from roy roger’s any day. in some cases it is less calories and fat, which is insane to me.
People get really excited about Cracker Barrel on road trips. I have one two minutes from our house and it’s super yummy.
Hey, I think I found Rod’s Christmas tree http://www.fresh99.com/can-christmas-tree.htm
