anyone ever take tussionex cough syrup
it’s codeine and my doctor prescribed it for my cough yesterday.
well, it said it’s strong stuff and i’ll be “feeling good” when i take it. after all, the first two side effects are drowsiness and excitement.
well i took it yesterday morning, 1 teaspoon, and felt nice and drowsy and took a little nap. i had wild dreams and felt kinda kooky.
i took it before bed and i guess that was a huge mistake. it didn’t make me sleep – in fact, it kept me up. when i did fall asleep, my dreams were wack. and it’s given me a weird ringing in my ears that caused me to turn off the xbox, tv and computer in my boyfriend’s room last night just to find out where that white noise was coming from.
oh and i woke up at 8 this morning and ran to the bathroom, thinking i was gonna barf.
i looked up side effects and all this fits in that category. anyone ever have experience with this medication?

i have had tussonex and it didn’t effect me too badly—i hoped it would make me go to sleep easier.
With regards to feeling nauseous, did you eat when you took it? Sometimes a couple crackers or a piece of break will help keep that from happening.
My advice: don’t take it unless absolutely necessary, call your doctor for something else and make sure it’s not a bad reaction/allergy, or try Robitussin (though your cough must have been pretty bad for him to give you a script.)
codiene isn’t really a drug you have to eat with. it gave me a nauseous feeling like six hours after i took it, when i woke up in the morning. if was either that or morning sickness from me being pregnant.
kidding.
yeah i stopped taking it after two days. i called my doctor and he said some people can handle it and fall asleep and get pleasantly high and some people bug out – like me.
when mucinex came out – that kind of trumped robitussin. so i’m going with that. mucinex makes a dm as well, but i’m going with d because it’s mostly for congestion and my cough is gone already.
