Revealed: Michael Jackson wrote the soundtrack for Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
And now I have a strong desire to go play it.

This then begs a question I’ve always wondered: Did he actually write all his music? I mean not the lyrics the music. I mean I never have seen any clip anywhere of him playing an instrument so I have no idea if he has any actual music knowledge beyond singing and lyrics (and probably basic melody). I just always assumed that he kind of just came up with basic ideas and Quincy Jones actually wrote the actual music.
It’s why I always preferred Prince to Michael Jackson because not only did he have a rock/funk edge but he actually was visibly proficient as a musician and it wasn’t a question as to how much was his own talent and how much was production or studio wizardry
But don’t you think it’s odd that someone who supposedly wrote all this music never played an instrument in any sort of public context (or did he…that’s what I’m asking)? I mean he didn’t even play the big bass in The Jackson 5 Days, Tito or Jermaine did.
I’m still convinced that he just went to Quincy Jones with basic melodic ideas and then he actually got studio cats (ie. Toto) to actually write the music around that. Again, I could be wrong, but until someone actually presents some form of evidence I’m sticking iwth my impression.
