My new favorite album: Real Estate - Self Titled
Ten sleepy, wistful tunes about suburban Jersey summers. I can’t stop listening to it. As soon as the last track is over, I start it right back up again. Grab it and put it on tonight.

Kev, I have a hard time recommending any particular track cause I really love them all (which, in and of itself, is a rarity), but I have a hard time believing you can listen to Fake Blues and not have it melt your cold, frozen heart.
Just put it on repeat throughout the house and go about your business. Let it slowly sink in.
Yeah, I just had this on as background music while cooking and eating dinner. Honestly I half expected to look at the album art and have it be a generic white cover that just said “Indie Rock” on it. Jangly guitars played not too fast? Check. Heavily reverbed vocals with cliched sub-Beach Boys harmonies? Check. Lack of hooks and/or the slightest hint of uptempo? Check. Vaguely British shoegazer influence? Check. 8.5 rating from Pitchfork? Check.
Just nothing that makes it stand out at all or that wasn’t done better elsewhere this year (Grizzly Bear being the most direct correlation but also hints of Dirty Projectors, etc.).
I predict that in 12-18 months you’ll barely remember this album exists.
