Hill Country Style Barbecue

Percy Street Barbecue opens tonite on south street and I am super excited. I’ve never been to Texas, but i’m hopeful this will be an admirable representation of hill country bbq.

I’ll be there tonite eating brisket. alone probably. come hang out!

I have a proposal to write tonight. I’m up for going any other day this week, though! The sooner the better. Dunno how long the client will take to get that proposal back to me, but once they do, I will have no time for anything. Including eating and sleeping. It will be a nighmarish December.

I used to live in San Antonio and about 60% of what I ate was BBQ, so I’ll be a harsh critic, though I’m excited to hear the reviews of those who get there before me!

awesome! i love harsh. i’m a big fan of the chef. plus, she’s lived in houston and the crew did their homework. so i’m optimistic it will be good. the price point alone is gonna make people annoyed though.

as it turns out rachel made an awesome dinner so i can’t justify going tonite anyway. lemme know which nite is good john.

Oh yes. See, the thing is, I’d pay almost anything if I can find a brisket rivaling the one my family and I stumbled upon in what could only be classified as a lean to, in a podunk town outside of Houston. I literally ate 4 servings. Just meat. No sides. It was that good.

OK, so I just watched the video, and A. I’ve eaten in at least three of the places they went to. and B. ALL WOOD!!!!!!!!! OMG ALL WOOD! The only place I’ve seen do that north of the Mason Dixon line was that place in Lawnside that no longer is open. I"m going Thursday. I’ll report back.

I’ve heard about this place and am pretty excited to check it out.

Admittedly I don’t know as much as i should about the different BBQ styles, but I’m learning!

walking to whole foods this evening, i got about two or three blocks from percy when i started smelling the smoke. it’s ridiculous! and made me realize i haven’t had the brisket in a few weeks. i could smell it inside whole foods when i was checking out.

the point being, i’m going tomorrow if anyone is interested. rachels having friends over and i need somewhere to be. so bbq it is

Wisdom

Whenever I dwell for any length of time on my own shortcomings, they gradually begin to seem mild, harmless, rather engaging little things, not at all like the staring defects in other people’s characters.
