Grizzly Bear Revisited... Again

Don’t ask me how many times I’ve tried to truly enjoy Grizzly Bear’s albums on a whole. I’m still working on it. So many people I keep as friends like the band’s work. Because of this, I keep Yellow House in my music collection (I keep Veckatimest for “While Your Wait For The Others”).

I was just working on an Eerie Yet Excellent compilation (yes, I can’t get enough of compilations). I was browsing through possibly applicable artists, and stopped at Grizzly Bear.

Anyway, I’m crazy about “I Live With You” right now. I added it to the list. I am one step closer to really appreciating Grizzly Bear (I think).

I hated and still hate Yellow House. I love Veckamist (sp?).

Totally agree. I just gave Yellow House another chance last week and it’s still boring. Knife is a really good song though.

I really don’t know how you guys can dislike “On a Neck, On a Spit” — especially when it really kicks in at the 1:10 mark or so. It’s so huge! And then the whole refrain after. Seeing them do this song live was outstanding. And Colorado! Oh man. What a closer. Gives me goosebumps.

Anyway, I don’t like “Eerie Yet Excellent” somehow implies that eerie music generally isn’t excellent. Though, might I suggest including something off of Scott Walker’s The Drift? It really doesn’t get any eerier. Try “Jesse.”

Cool, Hutch, I check that out.

I know what you’re saying about the wording there. Maybe “Eerie And Excellent” is better. I certainly don’t want anyone thinking eerie is synonymous with bad.

Wow, and now this video makes me like them more! Look at how the clay breaths. Perfect.

Is “breaths” not an option for “breathes”? I thought the ‘e’ was optional.

Wouldn’t “breathes” be the present-tense of the verb “breathe,” whereas “breaths” would simply be the plural version of the noun “breath?”

C’mon, smarty.
