Holy Crap! It’s everything i would expect the Apple Tablet to be…only it’s made by Microsoft

Immediately, though, the difference between Apple and Microsoft make themselves apparent. Watching the video demo, the user is doing all sorts of impressive things with gestures and motions, but none of them are things you’d actually think to do. It’s ritzy, it’s flashy, it’s impressive, and if Microsoft’s history and this video are any indication, it’s going to be incredibly hard for everyday non-geek users to pick up and… well, use.
I think the writing aspect is really clever, though. The fact is, the virtual keyboard is not an ideal solution and I don’t think anyone at Apple would try to make that case. The idea of using handwriting recognition as a complete keyboard replacement… that’s pretty rad. If the rumors and hints about apple’s tablet (e.g., the giant on-screen keyboard that’s built into Snow Leopard) are any indication, they’re not abandoning the virtual keyboard anytime soon.
