John is hungry

Lightning Bolt's new album, "Earthly Delights," has leaked!

It’s everything I wanted it to be and more. Still very much the same band — if you liked their last few, you’ll like this one, too — but they seem to have incorporated a bit more song-writing, a few more dynamics, some tempos other than balls-out fast, letting a few songs build to their violent and coked-up climaxes rather than jumping in headfirst.

With the exception of the goofy, semi-ambient, vaguely eastern sounding Rain On Lake I’m Swimming In, none of the other eight tracks here are skippable. Unlike their last album where I felt it sort of lagged in between the first track and the incredible Dead Cowboy, each song here seems to have it’s own life.

Standout tracks include the previously leaked slow-builder Colossus, the Black Pus beach party of The Sublime Freak, and the epic twelve minute plus closing track, Transmissionary.

I am so pumped to see these guys monday. This will probably be the only album I listen to until then.

About The Scrabbled

The Scrabbled is a group of people blogging about and linking to all manner of things. Usually we argue and make fun of each other. Everybody knows everybody through somebody so there are no strangers here. Most of us have even met in real life! If you happen to personally know someone here and would like to start arguing with and/or making fun of someone, shoot John an email and ask to sign up. Otherwise, you're just going to have to read in relative silence. Sorry.
