so john out of curiosity, what is it in particular you agree with here? that is, are you saying you root the arsonists’ “cause” of anti-gentrification, and if so why? Are you saying it’s a cause for concern/a crime in itself to be well off and drive nice cars? Or do you support having the courage of your convictions by demonstrating for your cause more generally?
And demonstrating it in a random fashion that quite possibly victimizes people who are totally innocent.
I believe the popular term is terrorism.
Yeah, but randomly burning the cars of people whose political, socioeconomic, and family histories are a complete unknown to you is a way more effective tool for social change, and far more compelling than an honest and educated dialogue, contacting your local representatives, or attending city council meetings, let alone contacting the press or invoking the right to assembly.
I don’t agree with any of it. I just like to root for the the people who create chaos for a principal cause I like to dream about what the world be be like if they won. It’s definitely the same irrational part of me that wishes for a zombie apocalypse cause it’d be fun in a totally macabre way. I’m not saying I’m right or that it’s justifiable. Just that there’s still a little kid in me who thinks it’s cool to play with fire.
I think it’s schadenfreude.
