And that’s why I don’t own a kindle. I wish Apple or someone with a good track record of building good hardware — someone without profit motives for selling more books — would build a version.

They are, which makes Apple that much more surprising that they’d be generally decent about how they’d handle the selling of their music. Fighting for no DRM… fighting for fixed low prices… all very good stuff.
