Fuck, I regret ever having bumped it. I really can’t stand tPoBPaH. I’ve tried so many times but it’s just sooooo…. generic. I’d imagine it’s sort of like what listening to the Strokes was like for people who were really into the Ramones. But if the Ramones had their heydey only a decade or so beforehand, instead of several decades beforehand.

I have no idea what this even means. Are you saing tpobpah sound like the Strokes? Or that the Strokes sound like The Ramones?
I’m saying tpobpah (which I think is a far better name than the full version, by the way), sound like every shoegaze band I’ve ever heard and really don’t bring anything new or interesting to the party, sort of like what the Strokes did with the Ramons (except that the Strokes were insanely fun and catchy, whereas tpopbah is just super repetitive and predictable and it grates on me like what).
I have to give tpobpah another listen. I only gave it 1 or 2 whirls a while back but I dont’ remember it sounding shoegazey as much as 80’s retro pop along the lines of a Phoenix or something of that nature. Now I’m curious again.
If the Strokes sounded anything like the Ramones they might have actually been good and instead of being boring, contrived hipster garbage. Thankfully now they’re pretty much cemented as the Tommy Tutone of the 90’s.
Needless to say that was a band I could never get into.
Hmmm….just listened to the album again and sure enough….yeah, it is sort of shoegazery (slightly though). In fact I described them as such msyelf when i posted about them some time ago. Not horrible, but I can see the repetitive thing in that all the songs sound similar. I can see not liking it, but hating it seems a bit hyperbolic since it’s just innocuous jangly pop.
