You guys are insane. How the crap can you stand the way she sings?! That “I’ve seen better days” is some of the worst shit I’ve ever heard.
you definitely have to be in the mood to deal with her cabaret style, but I agree with Ryan that she’s great. Girl Anachronism is what got me really into her. It’s all so over the top and fun!

O.K. you can add this one to the ever growing pile of John Hutch “I don’t get it” musical acts as to why you don’t like them. I don’t like her and I don’t like the Dresden Dolls. At all. So I have no skin in the game on this one and could never convince or make a case for someone liking them. But again….you like things to be quirky and different and klezmery or whatever affected old oompa style of what musical have you, and not generic and you like plenty of acts with odd, affected vocal styles so…….yeah. I don’t get it. Maybe I can see her/them not being your favorite….but hating?
I was with you, Kev, until you got to “odd, affected vocal styles.” On the whole, an odd, affected vocal style is an immediate turn off to me and it would require a really good song behind them to save it for me.
Amanda Palmer, however, doesn’t have really good songs behind her. She has alright songs to mediocre songs. Worse, however, is the fact that she has the single most loathesome “odd, affected vocal style” I’ve ever heard. I just wish she’d blow her nose.
Yeah, this is one where I’m not even going to make the attempt because she does nothing for me so……it just seems like it would make sense. But unlike others this one just isn’t that strong a case for me.
pfffft! the dramatics! the enegery, the drumming!!! plus i actually love her voice, its not so cookie cutter blaahhhhhhh voice. blow her nose? she’s not nasal.
