It’s an abandoned elevated train railway. I walked it with some friends about 7 years ago. We had to sneak on near the bus depot on the West Side.
The Highline is one of those attractions that makes you feel like you’re not really in the city. It gives New York a fresh angle to view from.
Anyone recall David Bowie sponsoring a few NYC shows years back for this funding? One of them was the show that he appeared on stage with Arcade Fire.
I wonder if they kept the scrap metal sculptures that were up there. I’m more than likely checking this out today if the weather holds.

Heh that is pretty silly. But Paris had it right.
But yeah walking on it last night was just surreal, really. It might be that I’ve been waiting for this to open since I moved to the Village 4 years ago, but the best way I can describe it is that it felt like I was walking through an architectural rendering.
I didn’t see any scrap metal sculptures, although much of the original rail line has been integrated into the park.
