I’m excited. Anything’s a step up from his last few disasters.
Auditorium (Slick Rick!!) and Quiet Dog Bite Hard are the two standout tracks at the moment.
I was digging the new MF Doom for a bit, too, but Tim pointed out to me the track Batty Boys is absurdly homophobic. Apparently it’s about how all superheros are gay cause their weird tights and shit. It sort of ruined the album for me.

Wow, that really sucks.
I try to convince my kids pretty much daily that homophobia is the new racism. I usually chalk it up to the fact that they’re eleven and assholes, but I always think it’s ironic that the youth of a subculture that still claims to be victims of prejudice find homophobic remarks completely fair game.
Me: “You don’t see how you calling someone a ‘fag’ is in any way similar to someone fifty years ago using a certain word against an African American?”
Student: “What?”
I’m still upset by this Batty Boys thing. I gave Mos Def a lot of credit for NOT being mindlessly banal, trite, and ignorant. It’d be a shame to have to take that back.
MF Doom wrote Batty Boys, not Mos Def. You read wrong.

Yea wow. My interest in doom has totally waned recently anyways, but that track is terrible.
I like the new Mos Def, but I can’t help but revert back to Black Star and Black on Both Sides after listening to this. There was just so much more gusto behind his verses back then.
