as an aside, Pujol is kind of a dick. a good player from what i saw today, but man does he dive and complain.
Really? I’m assuming you’re mainly referring to that confrontation with Ronaldo near the end line towards the end of the game. I thought that was clearly an instance of Ronaldo showing his frustration and actually a pretty good shoulder check as far as soccer hits go. I love that guy, he’s just a prideful, balls to the wall defender. The kind of guy you hate to play against if you’re a finesse, offensive type.
was that the one where he laid sprawled-out on the pitch lifeless? if so, i watched that hit when they showed it over and over and they were both obviously going for a header. and it was not just that instance – also where he barreled over Van Der Sar near United’s goal and dropped. VDS dove in front of him to save the ball, but i kind of think that’s to be expected by a goalkeeper. there were a few instances, some of which were over-dramaticized as is football, but it’s also heat-of-the-moment game stuff.
some of my favourite parts of the match are when players drop to the ground seemingly injured in horrifying ways, but are back up and running again when they are ignored. i just happened to notice Pujol do that more than once today. sure, there were others but he was the one i mostly saw when i looked up from my beer. like i said though, good player. i thought Ronaldo held back pretty well today as far as showing his frustration goes – there have been really bad matches where i’ve wanted to tranquilize the bastard.
Sorry Kev & Mandy.
I expected a bit more from Man U today but it was a good run.
Next season is just a few short months away.
Just hope Ronaldo doesn’t get snatched up by Real Madrid this offseason.
We were beat by a team that hit its peak for 90 minutes today. If they had played like that against Chelsea they would have won by 4 or 5.
Any sport is all ifs, buts and maybes and I wonder if we had made our early pressure pay if the match would have been that much different.
Anyway I will say well done Barca and be happy that we are English Champions, again and wait for August.
