I will confirm that that is totally true, however, bacon sandwiches in England are much different than here.

They could more accurately be described as chunks of ham, slathered in butter sandwiches.

I KNEW IT! Plusss! If you still have alcohol sloshing around in your belly making you feel sick, alcohol is only soluble in lipids thus helping you get rid of whatever’s leftover.

I love meat. I love it so much. In all it’s forms. Animals are so good for me.

Shit, you know what would probably be even better for a hangover? FOIE GRAS.

Evan, I don’t think the difference between american and british bacon will matter much here. The key they’re focusing on appears to be the amino acids present in fatty pork which should be about the same regardless of continent.

No, the frightening beer/shots/beer/shots/champagne hangovers I had in England were well handled by them. Butter is key.

Dairy cream is chock full of amino acids. You could probably just drink half n’ half, which might explain why coffee helps, too.

Say what you will, but my ol’ stand-by is a McDonald’s cheeseburger happy meal. Eff. I could totally eat one right now.

if you compare an american bacon sandwich to a british bacon sandwich, you will find (almost) nothing similar. british bacon sandwiches are not only superior, but entirely different things altogether. i see the point you’re trying to make, but it’s not as cut & dry.

a local grocery here sells british bacon – we will buy some and kevin will make you a proper sandwich so you can see what we mean (with HP sauce). you will die of pleasure.

let it be noted that this method does NOT help after consuming a toothpick’s worth of habanero hot sauce. spitting a lot does.

Oh stop it. I’ve had british bacon. It’s smoked and cured tenderloin. The protein to fat ratio is different, but c’mon. For the purposes of hangover cures, we’re not talking about any major differences here.

Also, I’m pretty sure that hot sauce is more than habanero. It’s, like, habanero, hellfire, hatred, and scorn.

except you’d have to use maybe a pound of american bacon to equal 4 strips of the british stuff. and it would still suck. and not work very well. nope.

Maybe if I bought oscar meyer bacon at WaWa, sure. But I don’t. I buy slab bacon and cut it myself or thick cut from behind the butcher counter at whole foods. Either way, we’re talking about how thick you slice it, not the content of the meat itself.

thickness certainly helps but they’re also different cuts of meat so you wouldn’t be replicating it.

But I clearly stated that I understood the physiological difference and I never said I was replicating it. Merely that, for the purposes of this discussion about hangover cures, there are no major differences.
